Ramblings from the mind of Judah

In a new telephone survey by the lovely people at the Rasmussen Report says that 75% of Americans think that Americans are getting ruder. I wish this surprised me, but it didn't. I think all of us have first hand experience with this truth. Even the people you expect people to be the kindest like hospital nurses or teachers have developed dispositions that have made them ruder than ever.

We live in a world where people are more concerned about their sheepskin boots and armani suits than the person walking beside them. We have become inward focused to a fault, we care way too much about ourselves. This is the probably the main reason people are rude, they see everyone else as merely a bump in the road to their personal satisfaction. What happened to the world where everyone was civilized and attempted to love one another. I guess that is merely a dream world at this point. That is why kids cling to the world's of Melissa and Doug of that of Aslan and Narnia, because they offer something our world doesn't. We can always pray and hope for the day that Jesus returns and all things are made new.

I hate to say it but I agree. To find someone who actually smiles when you do something like hold a door open or let them pass first is rare these days. I' glad to say I am not one of those rude people.
